So, yeah! Chapter one is complete. Kind of an awesome feeling. I guess I'm succeeding at my goal, cause I haven't given hope yet.
Though a big part of that is probably because I'm playing more to my strengths this time. I am good at characters and character interaction. It's what I'm best at. And, well, that's what most of this quest is so far! We've already got a band of heroes so there's usually someone to talk with and my characters are typically most interesting when they're talking.
Not that I expected these characters to turn out like this. Each major character introduced so far, aside from Roxanne, is not exactly how I originally intended them to be. This is good, though, because they're far more interesting. And people seem to be enjoying them, so that's good!
But anyway, here we are at the end of chapter one. The original end of chapter one was going to be the transformation into Maxwell, but we all know that didn't happen. Then I figured the end would be once Lucy's quest for her sword finished, but it just felt better to split it into multiple parts. Just goes to show how much a quest can adapt and flow from day to day. Ultimately, I think this was the right place to stop. And it coincides with me needing a break quite nicely. And now I can figure out what exactly happens next >_> I have a vague idea, not to mention a vague idea of the overall plot, but if I knew exactly what at this point, i'd be falling into the trap I set for myself last time.
Anyway, this is the point where I open the floor to you folks. What's working, what's not? Where could I improve, where am I awesome? Have I been giving too many pointless choices or not enough meaningful ones? Etc, etc, etc. Do drop a line, I value the input and will be checking back all week during the break. This is a collaboration effort, after all.
Oh, and yeah, the title is Lucy and Maxwell: Spellsword for Hire. I didn't want to reveal that until after the transformation (due to the intentional lack of plural), and doing it part way in seemed silly. So here it is now. I apparently just can't name my quests "descriptor quest" cause I'm boring.
